This month's speaker is Richard Games, CPA, CA, who chairs the Victoria network with Jennifer Jesseau. He walks through what to consider before and during the year-end process, picking up where an earlier session on year-ends left off. His list compares annual WCB wages to issued T4s and the general ledger or trial balance, and for some, total Employer Health Tax wages. It also sets the fiscal year's total revenue against line 101 of the GST return. Richard says the CRA is watching that comparison more closely now, going by his own clients. The list ends with T5018 slips for construction subcontractors, which he says the CRA loves, and a December preflight of T4s before they are filed. The session carries one CPD point.
Who's in the room: Bookkeepers and accountants, members and non-members alike.
Anu's Take
So looking forward to talking about all things year-end payroll related. Richard is going to fill us all in on the bookkeeping magic we need to invoke to get this done right the first time...I hope. If the responsibility of generating T4s lands on your desk every winter, come along.
