Software engineers diagnose a system before they start rewriting it. Karley Cunningham's argument is that growth deserves the same discipline, and that most companies stall by skipping straight to the fix. Her framework names five hidden conditions that slow a company long before anyone can point at them, across sales, marketing, leadership, operations and execution. It is pitched at founders scaling a first company and at people running an established technology business into its next phase, and it is a working session rather than a lecture.

Anu's Take

Worth the trip out of downtown, and it is a trip. The distillery sits outside Lime's service area, which stops at the city limits: past that line the bike loses its motor and there is nowhere to end the ride. Work out how you are getting home before you set off, because the afternoon closes with a whisky tasting and you should not be riding after that either.

Narrowing five candidates down to the one worth starting on is the part that takes nerve, which is why I wrote up the one thing I tell people to do first.
