A closed peer group, not a drop-in session. It brings together senior technical leaders: CTOs, architects and experienced developers who guide teams and shape technology strategy. Regular attendance is expected. This is one meeting of a standing group rather than a one-off. The series runs monthly for a year on one question, which the organisers put this way: what is the role of software developers and engineering leadership when AI agents can generate the majority of the code? From there it works through how to ensure quality and reliability in a world where the group rarely writes code and might not need to read it at all, how oversight and engineering principles evolve to manage risk, and which long-held principles to abandon and which to keep.
Anu's Take
Victoria Tech Week opens on the Monday, and this is where it starts: a room of the people leading the teams pushing hardest on how software actually gets built. The year's question is what engineering leadership is for once the agents write most of the code. Not a bad thing to open a week on.
