VIBE brings 200 founders, investors and operators from across Vancouver Island together for one day, by application and invitation. Each attendee answers a short set of questions, and the organizers build that person's agenda from the answers. Themed rooms of under 50 people run in parallel across four themes, Bedrock, Rainforest, The Lab and The Studio, and each theme runs twice. Attendees choose the five companies that pitch for a $10,000 cash prize, judged live on the day. Applying is free, and anyone admitted is invoiced for their ticket.

Who's in the room: About 200 people, each admitted by application: founders and operators who live on Vancouver Island, alongside angels, family offices and funds.

Anu's Take

Two hundred people in one building, with a $10,000 prize the room itself decides. If you've got an idea you've been carrying around, this is a good place to say it out loud. I carried mine for ten years before pitching it in sixty seconds, and it placed second. Put your application in.

Every founder in that room is betting on being early, and I've written about why being early is not the same as being lucky.
