11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Fort Tectoria (open in Google Maps)
Presented by VIATEC
Host: Steve Harris
Part of VIATEC's AI Meetup series (Technology Track), this session features David Leangen presenting Going AI-Native. The talk explains what it actually means to be AI-native, distinguishing companies that are AI-native by design from those layering AI onto existing ways of working, and outlines the practical shifts in mindset, structure, and engineering practice required to get there. It covers AI-native architecture and delivery patterns, including LLM-augmented development workflows, human-in-the-loop systems, and the implications for data pipelines, testing, and governance. Leangen is a longtime entrepreneur who founded his first AI company in 2000 and is currently Director of Software, Data and AI at Miraterra, a Vancouver-based soil health startup. Doors open at 11:30 with presentations at noon, and coffee and tea are served.
