VIATEC AI Meetup: Technology Track - Give AI Safe Access to Your Production Database

This VIATEC AI Meetup Technology Track session featured John Oram, co-founder and CTO of VeilStream, presenting on giving AI safe access to production databases. Production databases hold sensitive data that cannot be handed directly to a large language model, so the talk proposed an intermediary masking layer that sits between the LLM and the database and configures access control dynamically at query time. The model requests a specific subset of data and provides a reason for needing it, and that request is then evaluated, filtered, and fulfilled so the model receives what it needs without exposing what it should not see. Oram brings over 15 years of experience building secure backend systems, and his work at VeilStream centres on data sanitization for developer environments.
