Four founders in their twenties on what they have actually built with AI, what it took to get working, and where a person is still required, alongside creator partnerships and what building young in this city looks like from the inside. On the panel: Olivia Wein of sleepwear brand Isla Lune, whose $45,000 Mitacs-funded research project at UVic uses her own company to test how much of a product business can run on its own; Muhammad Aarij, who helped define the AI front-desk agent CareCloud now sells and is finishing a Master of Applied Data Science at UVic; Tara Crymble of Creatorbuzz, who runs creator programs for B2B tech brands; and Samuel Games, who built the mobile detailing business Canine Car Care and co-runs Victoria Builds. Owen Works of Dopa is MCing and hosting. Doors, panel, questions, then time to talk. It is an independent event during Victoria Tech Week, put on by the three communities behind it, and the room holds 50 to 80, so the organisers ask people to register through their own page.
Anu's Take
The useful thing about this one is who is on the panel: four founders in their twenties, on what they have actually got AI doing, rather than another room of Gen Xers forecasting what it will do next. The billing is what is running, what it took to get working, and where a person is still required. The organisers have also published a list of what they still need, down to a mic and someone on the door, which is the same candour the panel is promising, pointed at their own event.
