Microsoft Reactor livestream (Register for link)
Free Event
Presented by Microsoft Reactor
Featuring: Sharmila Chockalingam, Nitya Narasimhan on LinkedIn
Model Mondays is Microsoft Reactor's livestream series on model choice, and this edition puts the spotlight on the MAI family: the seven models Microsoft announced in-house at Build in June, spanning image, voice, transcription, coding and reasoning. The Microsoft AI models team joins to cover what is new in the family, how it works under the hood, and how to use the models when building agents. Questions are taken live, and the conversation carries on afterwards in the Azure AI Foundry Discord.
Anu's Take
Microsoft spent years letting somebody else's lab be its AI story. There are seven models with its own name on them now, and the launch post makes a point of saying they were trained from scratch with nothing distilled from another lab. That is a sentence you only write when people have been asking, so I would rather hear the team that built them talk through it than read it again.

I run Microsoft's AI all day by choice, so who is actually building the models underneath is not an academic question for me: why I replaced Google search with Microsoft 365 Copilot.
