A lunchtime VIATEC Business Track session on what AI actually means inside schools. Speaker Peter Scott, a Vancouver Island AI-and-education speaker who teaches AI courses at UVic and SFU and is billed as founder of the Centre for AI in Canadian Learning, walks through the top issues in secondary education: homework, the risks and benefits of AI for learning and retention, and where it leaves career paths for students. Aimed at parents, educators, and employers trying to make sense of it. Hosted by VIATEC's Robert Cooper at Fort Tectoria. Free to attend.
Anu's Take
AI turned up in classrooms a good while before anyone wrote the rules for it, which is roughly how these things always go. This session steps back from the panic to ask what it actually means for students, parents, and the people who will eventually be hiring them. A lunch spent on a genuinely hard question, which beats another one spent pretending it isn't one.
